SAFETY TIPS - Housebreaking
What to do when you come home, finding your house being broken into? Do not enter the house, because the criminals can still be inside! Contact the police or your Armed Response Company and let them investigate and ensure that it is safe to enter. Do not touch, remove, or displace anything in the house until the police arrives on the scene. Moving things around or touching things can hamper the police investigation. Many people believe that taking fingerprints is useless, but it is not. Even if they do not catch the person right away, they might catch him breaking into another house months later and then connect that person to YOUR breaking. Do not let friends or family into the house until the police were there and fingerprints were taken. Once again, it could hamper the investigation. If any windows or doors were broken, get it fixed as soon as possible. Ask your armed response company for extra patrols around your house. It would be a good idea to improve the security in and around your house. STAY SAFE!
